An Oracle Deck by Emily Prentice

Magic lives in connecting threads.

(And sometimes it’s really hard to see them.)

As humans, we live in hierarchy, in linearity, in organized time. We’ve been trained to think in terms of productivity, rationality, and realism. We push aside our daydreams and curse our scatterbrains; we battle burn-out and never linger long enough. We highly value straight lines and forget that we live in fractals.

This is a deck about noticing our ecosystems.

We can create a network of support for ourselves by connecting to the world around us. The easiest way to tune in? Observation! The simple act of noticing patterns and honoring symbols can nourish us deeply. This deck is the energetic equivalent of a telescope and a microscope and a kaleidoscope. It is an invitation to playful reflection, a cozy quilt on your greyest day, a reminder that you exist at the intersection of all things, and that means that

no matter where you are, you are home.

Want some practice at connecting threads?

Try finding connections between the shapes, colors, and symbols below!

TUNE IN TO YOUR OWN INTUITION.

You are your own best resource. The (Extra)terrestrial Oracle is not prescriptive and can be used in whatever way you’d like!

Pull a card a day. Use the deck as a series of journaling prompts. Pick out your favorite and make art about it. Draw several and create a story from them. Mail a card to a friend. Photocopy them and make a collage. (Shout out to Davis Carr for the ingenuity!!) Supplement your tarot practice. Put them in tiny frames and hang them on your wall.

Above, Below, and In-Between.

That’s how The (Extra)terrestrial Oracle got its name.

Each card in The (Extra)terrestrial Oracle corresponds with one of those three realms. They are our tethers, our buoys, our mysteries, our mirrors. An accessible way to orient ourselves. A constant reminder that “As above, so below.” This added organization to the deck helps uncover our “Wheres” along with our “Whys.”

Sometimes our Where IS our Why.

  • A pre-order is a way to claim a deck before we order a bunch of copies. They’re incredibly helpful for micro-businesses like ours, which may not always have the revenue to buy in bulk! When you pre-order, you’re sending a little bit of extra love our way and making sure there’s a copy of the deck with your name on it!

  • The (Extra)terrestrial Oracle is a 45 card deck. Each card is a 3.5x3.5 square. The paper is 16pt silk with a gloss finish. The guidebook is a small zine, handprinted at home. Packaging is also being handprinted at home on Moab Entrada Natural Rag art paper.

  • AS SOON AS WE GET THEM after our last pre-sale day (November 19th)! We appreciate your patience!!

  • We’re gonna try everything in our power to get them out ASAP! Pre-order is open until the 19th and we will place our order as soon as we can. Traditionally, decks have arrived within 10 days of ordering. We’ll ship within a couple days of them getting here!

  • Currently, we’re shipping to the US, Canada, UK, and Australia. (Please choose your shipping zone at check-out!) However, if you’re outside of those countries and would like to purchase a deck, please reach out! We will figure something out.

  • Absolutely! Just put in their information under shipping address. If you’d like to include a special message, you can write it in the notes section of your order form and we’ll include it.

Please remember that this is a pre-order, and decks do not ship immediately.

  • Reach out before shipment via the contact form above and we will make sure it gets to the right place! After it’s left our hands, there’s not much we can do except pray to the mail gods.

WHY DIY?

While the cards themselves aren’t printed at home, every other part of The (Extra)terrestrial Oracle is handmade.

“DIY is the arts background that I come from, and it felt natural to include elements of it in this work. The Underworld has been teaching me the powers of moving slow, of investing in community care. I care best for my community when I’m making art. Realistically, I know I won’t be able to print guidebook zines at home forever. For this very first pre-order, though, I knew I wanted to touch them all and say ‘thank you’ before I send them to your door.” —Emily
