WE DIG DEEP &
WE ROCK TUMBLE.

WHAT:

The Center for Underworld Studies is a vessel for studying all things BELOW. It’s part art practice and part digital community space. We believe in sharing knowledge, following connections, weaving together our fates in a more just and joyful world.

WHY:

Because the overworld has failed so many of us. The underworld is the antithesis of systems like capitalism, hierarchy, & linear thinking. The underworld thinks in millennia. Its paths don’t form in straight lines. When we go below, we learn lessons about meandering & deep time & inevitable decay. When we live life like the underworld, we honor connections & ecosystems, rest & winters, scatterbrains & cave systems.

WHO:

TCFUS is facilitated by Emily Prentice, and includes her artwork and designs. Co-conspirators collaborate on interviews, art projects, zine features, and workshops, sharing skills and telling stories about the world below.

HOW:

We are here to study and make art like the underworld. We learn from seasonality, labyrinths, compost, & mycelium networks. We seek lessons from zombie movies & time-told mythologies alike. We explore via creativity and we listen to stories from each other. No path to the underworld is quite the same and we value that diversity in our methods: we believe in manifestos & oracle decks & conversations & shared knowledge, in magic & science & art. We want to bring all of those things to our study.
